a talk by
Susan Moore
Chancery records can be some of the most valuable sources for any family history research. They illuminate the characters of our ancestors, we hear what they were saying and thinking, they distinguish between all those John Smiths, grandfather, father, uncle, son, nephew, and best of all many of them start by reciting the last 4 generations of a family. People featured range from gentlemen to servants, and include men, women, and children. The records run from late medieval times to the middle of the 20th century and are a must for any family historian.
